Oy Vey. This is the MILLION DOLLAR question, am I right?

When marketing budgets are limited, every dollar matters.

Many business owners feel pressure to do everything at once: websites, social media, advertising, photography, video, email marketing, and more.

The truth is that most small businesses don't need to do everything.

They need to focus on the basics first.

Start by asking yourself a simple question:

Can my ideal customers easily find information about my business? Put yourself in their shoes.

And, if the answer is no, your first investment may be a website or improvements to your existing website.

If customers can find you but don't see much activity or have a lot of questions that social media can answer - well, social media may be the next priority. Regular updates help reassure customers that your business is active and engaged. And, can answer many questions they may have about your business.

Professional photography can also be one of the most valuable investments you make. Strong images improve websites, social media posts, Google Business Profiles, brochures, and advertising materials.

For many small businesses, the best first investments are:

  1. A professional website

  2. Quality photos

  3. A Google Business Profile

  4. Consistent social media updates

Once those pieces are in place, it becomes much easier to decide whether additional marketing efforts make sense.

The best marketing plan isn't always the biggest or most expensive one. It's the one that helps customers find you, trust you, and take the next step.
