I'll be honest, I hate my photo taken. (Or, at least I used to hate it.) 

Then my mom died. And I only found a handful of photos of me and my mom in all her 74 years. Boy, was I an idiot. 

I'd say, "Nope, I'm good. I'll take the photo." And why?

Because, I hated the way I looked.

But I've learned the photos aren't about me. They are about my loved ones. I think of that now and how that seemed kind of selfish of me, not to be in the photos.

As I look at those handful of photos, I now think, "Boy, I look goofy, don't I?
But, I'm SURE GLAD I WAS THERE." 

And well, we both know that anyone can take a photo these days. Anyone.
But, we also know that not everyone can create a portrait.

I've continually learned to understand lighting, technology, qualities of editing, composition analogy, and how to balance them all.

I've attended seminars, classes, learned from mentors, practiced and practiced and my years of experience mean something. 

I get it.
I know that hiring a photographer can be stressful, feel like a burden like - something that just needs to be done to make others happy.

But don't you want to be glad that you were there?
Life isn't forever.
